Security and migration enforcement operations expand across South America

Various law enforcement and administrative actions are being implemented across South America to bolster security and migration controls.

In Chile, authorities have conducted several operations. In La Serena, over 70 officials used biometric ABIS technology to monitor migration and identity. In the Maule region, a large-scale security deployment resulted in 218 arrests and 11,000 identity checks. Additionally, migration inspections in Maule led to 17 reports of infractions and one expulsion. In Los Lagos, the PDI received six new vehicles to enhance investigative capabilities, while in Ñuble, officials are addressing delays in the bidding process for a new PDI regional headquarters. In Rancagua, municipal and health authorities closed three establishments for illegal sexual commerce to address public health concerns.

In Argentina, Governor Leandro Zdero delivered 10 new 4x4 patrol vehicles to Chaco police units to support road patrol, communications, and person searches, with 30 more vehicles planned for future delivery.

In Peru, the National Superintendency of Migrations expelled 78 foreigners following 33 inspection operations in the Piura region aimed at addressing irregular entry into the country.
