Ñuble regional anniversary sparks tension over delegate's absence
The absence of Presidential Delegate Diego Sepúlveda from the eighth anniversary celebrations of the Ñuble region has sparked political tension. While local authorities and social leaders gathered at the Municipal Theater of Chillán for the commemorative event, Sepúlveda remained in Santiago.
The Presidential Delegation stated that Sepúlveda was using an administrative day. However, controversy arose when it was revealed that he attended the Fifth Regional Meeting of the Foro de Madrid in Santiago during the same period. This international meeting included figures such as José Antonio Kast and Argentine President Javier Milei.
Local critics have questioned the political priorities of the Executive representative, arguing that his participation in an international political gathering took precedence over a major institutional milestone for the region. The Ñuble region officially began functioning on September 6, 2018.
