Ñuble wineries seek new markets to boost Itata Valley wine exports
Producers from Chile’s Ñuble Region are working to expand international markets and resolve commercialization bottlenecks for wines from the Itata Valley. During the Chile Wine Day 2026 in Mexico City, eight wineries from the region showcased their products to importers and sommeliers to strengthen the positioning of Chilean wine and establish new trade routes.
This push for international expansion comes amid a challenging period for the national viticulture sector. In the first half of 2026, Chilean wine exports reached 303 million liters, representing a 13.2% decrease in volume and a 9.7% decrease in value compared to the previous year. Local producers are also facing low grape prices and high inventory levels.
To address these issues, the Ñuble Regional Wine Table met in Coelemu to coordinate efforts between public institutions and winemakers. Discussions focused on market opening, innovation, enotourism, and improving traceability and certification to ensure transparent transactions and better access to consumers.
