UBM Holding reports 32,000-ton grain shortage at Bászna Gabona sites

UBM Holding Nyrt. has issued an extraordinary stock exchange disclosure revealing a massive shortage of agricultural commodities stored at the sites of Bászna Gabona Zrt. According to the disclosure, approximately 31,679 tons of barley, wheat, corn, and triticale belonging to UBM Grain Zrt. are unavailable.

Bászna Gabona Zrt., which entered liquidation in June, is currently under investigation by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters on suspicion of embezzlement. The company’s financial collapse has left farmers and business partners with unpaid claims, with total damages reported to reach nearly 10 billion forints.

UBM Grain Zrt. management has previously filed criminal complaints to establish legal responsibility and seeks to recover as much of the losses as possible. The discrepancy was noted following on-site inspections by UBM Grain’s account-holding bank, which confirmed the significant deficit in expected grain stocks.
