Ľuboš Blaha faces scrutiny over luxury villa purchase in Bratislava
European Parliament MEP Ľuboš Blaha is facing criticism following reports regarding the purchase of a luxury three-story villa in the Kramáre district of Bratislava. The property, which includes two separate apartments and covers nearly 400 square meters, was reportedly acquired in December of last year.
Journalists from Aktuality.sk identified the property through land registry checks, noting a perceived contradiction between Blaha’s public political stance against the wealthy and his personal real estate holdings. While real estate listings suggested a value of approximately 950,000 euros, Blaha has disputed this figure, claiming the actual purchase price was significantly lower.
Blaha responded to the reports by stating that the entire purchase was financed through a mortgage paid from his MEP salary, rather than personal savings. He also criticized the publication of the home’s exact location and indicated he is addressing the matter with legal counsel and the police.
