Ľubomír Višňovský celebrates 50th birthday
Slovak hockey legend Ľubomír Višňovský is celebrating his 50th birthday. A prominent defenseman in Slovak hockey history, Višňovský achieved significant success in the NHL, playing for teams including the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and New York Islanders.
During his professional career, he was one of the most productive defensemen of his era and was named to the NHL All-Star Rookie Team. On the international stage, he represented Slovakia in ten World Championships and four Olympic Games, notably contributing to the team's 2002 World Championship gold medal.
Reflecting on his milestone, Višňovský noted that while he feels mentally much younger, the physical toll of his professional career is evident, particularly in his back. He also shared memories of his early beginnings in Topoľčany and the influence of his family on his hockey journey.
