UBS Global Wealth Report Shows Record Rise in Billionaires and Wealth
UBS's Global Wealth Report released on 30 June 2026 says the number of billionaires worldwide grew 13 % in the past year to a record 3,302, while their combined wealth increased about 25 %. The surge is linked to strong equity markets, especially AI‑related stock gains. Nineteen individuals now hold more than $100 billion each, fifteen of them residing in the United States. Global millionaire figures also climbed, surpassing 57.5 million, aided by a weak U.S. dollar that inflates dollar‑denominated asset values.
The report highlights that Turkey experienced the second‑fastest rise in dollar‑millionaires, after Lithuania, with a 6.4 % annual increase to roughly 93 000 individuals, adding about 5 600 new millionaires in 2025. Around one million new dollar‑millionaires were added worldwide in 2025, about half of them in the United States. UBS warns that wealth inequality is deepening, as the median household wealth remains stagnant while high‑net‑worth groups capture most of the gains.
Overall, the data point to accelerated wealth accumulation among the ultra‑rich, driven by robust US and Asian market performance and AI‑fuelled equity growth, while broader population wealth lags behind.
