UBS Iguaçu opens specialized room for neurodivergent patients

The Iguaçu Basic Health Unit (UBS Iguaçu) has inaugurated a specialized room designed for neurodivergent individuals, specifically targeting those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other hidden disabilities.

The space was developed as part of the ‘Te-A Colher’ program, a collaboration between municipal health and child/adolescent secretariats, Aceinopr, and Instituto Acim. To reduce sensory overload and anxiety, the room features softened lighting, specific colors to minimize visual stimuli, and acoustic treatment to dampen external noise.

In addition to this new facility, local health data indicates an expansion in specialized services, with over 7,000 women's health exams—including mammographies and ultrasounds—conducted via the Unified Health System (SUS) since June.
