UBS initiates coverage of Optima Bank with €16 price target

UBS has initiated coverage of Optima Bank with a ‘buy’ recommendation and a price target of €16. The investment bank highlights the bank’s strong growth prospects and profitability, noting it offers a unique investment story within the Greek banking sector.

Analysts project an average annual earnings per share (EPS) increase of approximately 22% for the 2025-2028 period. UBS expects the bank to maintain a Return on Tangible Equity (RoTE) near 24%. Key drivers for this growth include significant credit expansion, with the bank’s market share of served loans in Greece expected to rise from its current 3.4% to 5.3% by 2030.

Additionally, Jefferies has also initiated coverage, describing Optima Bank as a high-quality model capable of driving growth through SME financing, efficient deposit attraction, and a diversified revenue ecosystem. The bank has already revised its 2026 net new lending targets upward to €1.35 billion.
