UBS raises Hong Kong 2026 GDP growth forecast to 4.5%

Swiss bank UBS has upgraded its outlook for Hong Kong’s economy in 2026, increasing the projected GDP growth rate from 3.3% to 4.5%. The revision reflects continued strength in high‑value‑added exports, resilient financial‑market activity, steady private consumption and a rebound in tourism. UBS also highlighted Hong Kong’s first five‑year development plan and ongoing support from the Chinese central authorities as drivers of longer‑term growth. Official data released for the first half of 2026 showed Hong Kong’s GDP expanding 5.1% year‑on‑year, surpassing market expectations.

The forecast adjustment is expected to influence investor sentiment and market expectations for the region’s economic performance through the mid‑2020s.
