UBS reports record surge in worldwide millionaires in 2025

Swiss bank UBS’s Global Wealth Report shows personal wealth grew 10.8% in 2025 – the fastest pace since 2017 – creating nearly one million new US‑dollar millionaires, about 2,600 per day. The United States accounted for almost half of the new millionaires, adding over 440,000 individuals. Other major contributors were mainland China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and France, which together with the United States bring the global total of millionaires to roughly 57.5 million.

Country‑specific gains were highlighted: France saw 34,604 new millionaires, raising its total to 2.39 million and making it the EU leader; Brazil added 9,215 new millionaires, reaching 386,000 but retained a high Gini coefficient of 0.81, indicating sharp wealth concentration; Mexico recorded 8,724 new millionaires, bringing its total to 333,000. The report also noted a 13.1% rise in the number of billionaires to 3,302, with their combined wealth up 25% over the year, while median wealth fell in many markets, underscoring widening inequality.
