UBTech launches U1 humanoid robot series with prices up to $150,000
Chinese robotics firm UBTech unveiled its consumer‑focused U1 humanoid robot line, offering three models – U1 Lite, U1 Pro and U1 Ultra – with market prices ranging from about €15,700 (≈ $17,000) to over €137,000 (≈ $150,000). The robots feature silicone “skin,” heated and equipped with AI that can recognise user emotions.
The company reports more than 13,300 orders across online and offline channels. UBTech positions the Lite and Pro versions for home companionship, while the Ultra version targets commercial applications. A recurring criticism is the limited battery life; UBTech says a 2‑4 hour runtime is typical for full‑size humanoid robots and has set up an AI‑and‑robotics ethics committee to address governance concerns.
The launch marks a shift from laboratory prototypes to commercially available, lifelike humanoid assistants intended for emotional support, senior care and reception duties, with deliveries slated to begin in late 2026.
