UBTech's UWORLD U1 humanoid robot garners over 2,000 preorders
UBTech announced that its new consumer‑focused UWORLD U1 humanoid robot has received more than 2,100 pre‑orders within a week of opening reservations on JD.com. The launch is set for 30 June, with deliveries planned for the first buyers by mid‑September.
The U1 is offered in male (1.83 m, 42 kg) and female (1.68 m, 35 kg) models, featuring ultra‑bionic silicone skins, facial expression and eye‑tracking systems, Wi‑Fi connectivity and a battery life of two to four hours. UBTech markets the robot as an “emotional” companion that uses on‑device AI to analyse voice tone and facial cues, storing personal data locally with encryption. The company notes that the platform currently supports only basic motions such as standing, sitting and walking on flat surfaces, with no user‑programmable extensions.
