Çubuklu-İstinye car ferry line to reopen in October
The Çubuklu-İstinye car ferry line is set to resume operations in October, following a suspension by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) on July 31, 2025. The decision to halt the service led to significant traffic congestion on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and within the Kavacık axis, impacting residents in the Beykoz and Sarıyer districts.
Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel announced the reopening after approximately one year of advocacy. The campaign for the ferry's return included support from local neighborhood mukhtars, non-governmental organizations, and sports clubs. Gürzel had previously proposed that if the İBB could not operate the line, the responsibility should be transferred to the Beykoz Municipality to coordinate with the Ministry.
