Ubuntu releases Resolute Raccoon version 26.04

Ubuntu, a popular open-source Linux distribution from Canonical Ltd., has released its latest version, Resolute Raccoon (version 26.04). This update utilizes Linux kernel version 7.0, providing improved support for new hardware and low-level system enhancements.

The new version features an updated interface using Gnome 50, which operates exclusively on the Wayland display server. A new Resources app has been introduced to replace the previous System Monitor and Power Statistics applications for managing system usage.

Other features include the App Center app store, consolidated settings, a search-enabled file manager, and support for Microsoft Entra ID. Ubuntu remains a free, highly customizable option that can be installed on most Intel or AMD-based PCs or run via a live USB stick.
