UC San Diego awarded $29.9 million for healthcare cybersecurity project

The University of California San Diego Center for Healthcare Cybersecurity has been awarded up to $29.9 million from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to lead the PANACEA-H project. The initiative, which spans up to four years, aims to develop tools to map and monitor technology dependencies within the healthcare sector.

In collaboration with the American Hospital Association, the University of Maryland, and the University of Minnesota, the project seeks to identify critical infrastructure, software, and digital services whose failure could destabilize care delivery. The initiative follows the 2024 Change Healthcare breach, which caused widespread operational disruptions and significant revenue losses across the United States.
