UCF shifts 2027 Louisiana game to season opener

The UCF Knights have rescheduled their 2027 home game against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to serve as the season opener on August 28, 2027. This change, confirmed via a state open records request from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, follows an NCAA decision to standardize a 14-week regular season starting in 2027, which includes games during ‘Week Zero’.

In recent action, the University of Pittsburgh defeated UCF 12-7 in a Week 2 matchup. Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi highlighted the defensive performance of Cruce Brookins, noting that Brookins’ early tackle on UCF’s Duke Watson set a physical tone for the Panthers' victory. Brookins recorded five tackles and a pass breakup during the contest.
