UCH Ibadan health workers begin indefinite strike
Health workers at University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan have commenced an indefinite strike led by the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP). The industrial action is a protest against the hospital management's refusal to reinstate the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Dr. Adeyinka Ishola.
The union claims that an independent investigation by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare cleared Dr. Ishola of fraudulent activity regarding the sale of a donated tricycle, finding him only guilty of failing to inform management of the sale. While the ministry recommended that Dr. Ishola be reprimanded and reinstated, the NUAHP alleges that UCH management has refused to implement this verdict for several months.
