UCI cancels 2026 Urban Cycling World Championships in Riyadh
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Saudi Cycling Federation have announced the cancellation of the 2026 Urban Cycling World Championships. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 3 to 7, 2026.
According to a joint statement, the decision follows an assessment of recent developments in the region and the resulting logistical challenges for organizing the championships. The event was intended to feature top international specialists in trials and BMX Freestyle disciplines, including Park and Flatland categories.
The cancellation impacts the international competition calendar for athletes, teams, and national federations. While the UCI expressed regret over the measure, the Saudi Cycling Federation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cycling within the country and maintaining its long-term partnership with the UCI.
