UCL predicts shift toward high-functionality in 2027 body care market
Cosmetic ODM/OEM specialist UCL has released its ‘2027 Body Care Trend Book,’ outlining a significant shift in the industry from basic moisturizing and fragrance toward high-functionality and lifestyle-integrated care.
The global body care market is projected to grow from $78.32 billion in 2025 to $99.75 billion by 2030. In South Korea, the market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 5.5% through 2029. Regional trends show a focus on whitening and radiance in Asia, while North America prioritizes anti-aging and long-term skin health.
UCL identified three core trends for 2027:
1. Scar and Mark Care: Addressing specific concerns like acne marks, rough texture, and stretch marks, a niche currently representing only about 1% of new product launches. 2. Metabolic Body Beauty: The application of high-performance facial ingredients—such as PDRN, NAD+, and exosomes—to body care products. 3. Lifestyle-Linked Body Rituals: Developing products tailored to specific daily activities, such as cooling mists for post-exercise or friction-reducing balms for running.
UCL aims to expand collaborations with brands to meet these evolving consumer demands for specialized skin management.
