UCLA Biologist Launches OnlyFans Page to Fund Marmot Research
Professor Daniel Blumstein of the University of California, Los Angeles created an OnlyFans account called OnlyMarms to raise money for his field studies of marmots in Colorado. The platform, known for adult content, is used to post free videos of wild marmots digging nests and roaming rocky terrain, with optional tips directed to the research budget. The initiative arose after federal cuts left the team studying marmot behavior and lineages at the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab in Crested Butte under‑funded. When uploading a driver’s‑license photo to set up the account, OnlyFans flagged it, saying the image did not match a marmot, which the researcher resolved via email. Funds collected are intended to support ongoing observations of marmot responses to environmental change, a project that has been running at the lab since 1962.
