UCLA Bruins host San Diego State at Rose Bowl

The UCLA Bruins will host the San Diego State Aztecs at the Rose Bowl Stadium this Saturday for UCLA’s 2026 home opener. The matchup features a Big Ten team against a newcomer from the Pac-12.

UCLA enters the game following a 45-24 victory over California in head coach Bob Chesney’s debut. During that game, quarterback Nico Iamaleava contributed 184 passing yards and a touchdown, while running back Wayne Knight recorded three touchdowns. Defensive back Ta’Shawn James also earned Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two interceptions.

San Diego State, also 1-0, faces a significant challenge in Iamaleava, who led the Bruins in rushing last season with 505 yards. The Aztecs' defense, which is currently integrating new starters across the unit, will need to contain both Iamaleava’s passing and rushing abilities.
