UCLA football reaches 8-0 mark with shutout win over Nevada
The No. 7 UCLA Bruins improved to an 8-0 season record following a 27-0 shutout victory against Nevada at the Rose Bowl. The win marks the program’s first home shutout since 2007.
Despite the victory, UCLA head coach Bob Chesney expressed dissatisfaction with the stadium atmosphere, noting a lack of crowd noise during the game. He emphasized that the team must focus on internal improvement, stating, “The amount of improvement that has to go on here is significant. There’s no noise.”
Factors contributing to the lower attendance included the game falling on Halloween and the non-conference nature of the matchup. Although Athletic Director Tim Harris had previously announced free tickets for students, the turnout remained low.
On the field, the Bruins' defense maintained a high standard, contributing to the shutout against a Nevada team that has struggled recently. UCLA enters the next phase of their season looking to maintain their momentum following this non-conference break.
