UCLA Sigma Nu fraternity faces scrutiny over inflated charity claims

The Sigma Nu fraternity chapter at UCLA has admitted to significantly overstating its charitable fundraising figures for three consecutive years. While the chapter previously claimed to have raised $100,000 for the 2025-26 period—ranking it at the top of Greek life fundraising at the university—an amended report revealed the actual amount raised was only $950.

Alumni leaders attributed the discrepancy to a years-long accounting error rather than intentional deception. Previous records from the UCLA Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life showed even larger inflated amounts, including over $250,000 for the 2023-24 period. The fraternity has expressed regret and stated they are working to correct the record.
