Ucluelet's Lighthouse Loop named a top North American fall hike

The Lighthouse Loop in Ucluelet, located on Vancouver Island, has been named one of the top 10 best hiking trails for autumn foliage in North America by Travel + Leisure magazine. The trail is a scenic section of the Wild Pacific Trail, measuring approximately 2.6 to 2.7 kilometres.

While the West Coast of British Columbia may not feature the intense red and orange foliage typical of Eastern Canada, the publication highlighted the trail for its rugged coastline, Pacific Ocean views, and the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse. The hike is noted for its accessibility, with portions suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. It also offers opportunities to view marine wildlife, such as whales.

The Lighthouse Loop was one of only two Canadian trails included in the list, the other being Ontario’s Track and Tower Trail. Other featured locations across the United States and Canada include sites in Oregon, Arizona, South Carolina, Vermont, Washington, Wyoming, and Virginia.
