UConn men’s hockey prepares for 2026-27 season following NCAA tournament appearances

The UConn men’s hockey team enters the 2026-27 season following two consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and back-to-back trips to the Hockey East Championship. Last season, the Huskies finished with a 20-13-5 overall record and secured the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, though they ultimately fell to Merrimack in the championship game.

As the team looks to secure its first conference title, it faces the challenge of replacing significant offensive production. Key departures include Ryan Tattle and Jake Richard, who both moved on to professional contracts. To maintain momentum, the Huskies will rely on returning senior Joey Muldowney, who led the team last season with 17 goals and 29 points, as the primary offensive focal point.

Defensively, the team expects continued development from Kai Janviriya, who recorded 12 assists during his breakout previous season. With approximately 59 percent of the team's scoring from last year returning, the program aims to build on its recent success and advance further in the postseason.
