UCPVax cancer vaccine shows promising results in French clinical trials

The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Franche-Comté has presented promising results for UCPVax, a potential universal cancer vaccine. The vaccine targets an enzyme present in most cancers and has demonstrated efficacy in over 300 patients across approximately twenty medical centers in France.

One notable application of the vaccine is in the treatment of glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor. The research is the result of 16 years of public research involving the CHU and the UMR Right laboratory, which includes partnerships with Inserm and the French Blood Establishment.

Professor Olivier Adotévi, the program leader and director of UMR Right, noted that while the initial results offer immense hope, the project must now move toward large-scale testing. A phase three trial is required, which necessitates raising six million euros. If successful, market authorization for the vaccine is targeted for 2032.
