UCR Catamarca nears selection of new party leadership

The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) in Catamarca is nearing a decision regarding its new party leadership for the 2026-2028 period. Former deputy Genaro Contreras has emerged as the strongest candidate to preside over the Provincial Committee.

Negotiations within the ‘Radicales Unidos’ faction are progressing, though officials noted that certain names and integration details remain to be finalized. The deadline to submit the list of candidates is Monday, August 24, following an extension granted to facilitate discussions.

Proposed leadership roles include Alejandra Pons for the first vice-presidency and Jair Ocampo for the second. Other names mentioned for various secretariats and national committee representation include Alfredo Marchioli, Juana Fernández, Fernando Navarro, and Alicia Pazr.
