UDA announces grassroots ward-level elections in three Kenyan counties

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has scheduled ward-level grassroots elections for September 26, 2026, in Bungoma, Tana River, and Kericho counties. The party's National Elections Board announced that eligible polling centre officials may register as candidates through a portal open from September 3 to September 18.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasized the importance of these grassroots structures, describing polling station officials as the “bosses” of the party at the local level. Speaking in Meru County, Kindiki noted that these officials play a critical role in defending the ruling party and communicating the Kenya Kwanza administration’s achievements in sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare ahead of the 2027 General Election.
