Đude women's choir showcases Montenegrin folk heritage at Wild Beauty Art festival

The female vocal ensemble Đude performed on Macanska Poljana as part of the Wild Beauty Art festival, presenting a program of archaic songs from across Montenegro. Founder and director Davor Sedlarević explained that the repertoire, built from years of research involving over 140 singers at more than 45 locations, includes regional chants, antifonal pieces from Sutomore, Paštrovići, Bjelasica, Gornja Morača and Pljevlja, and traditional pre‑wedding songs that reflect the hardships and voice of women.

The youngest members, 16‑year‑old Maša Medenica and 17‑year‑old Jana Raketić, stressed the importance of youth in preserving the tradition, while Serbian ethno‑singer Rajka Perović of the Durmitorka group joined the performance, underscoring cross‑border interest in the endangered vocal style.
