Udhayanidhi Stalin challenges Chief Minister Vijay over corruption files

Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has challenged Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to release three files regarding alleged corruption during the previous DMK administration. This follows an August 19 statement by Vijay claiming the documents were under his consideration and would be made public at an appropriate time.

During the Assembly debate, Udhayanidhi questioned why the contents had not yet been disclosed and urged immediate action against those responsible. Speaker J C D Prabhakar subsequently removed Udhayanidhi’s remarks from the official proceedings, cautioning legislators against using unsupported allegations or inflammatory language. Udhayanidhi also noted that while the remarks were expunged from the official record, they were still circulating as viral clips on social media.

Additionally, Udhayanidhi criticized a government proposal to provide official vehicles to all MLAs. He stated that the 59 DMK legislators would reject the scheme, arguing that government funds should not be used for such purposes given the state’s reported financial difficulties. Minister N Anand maintained that the government possesses sufficient evidence regarding the corruption files and will take legal action at the appropriate stage.
