Udhayanidhi Stalin criticizes TVK government over arrests and law and order

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu, has criticized the TVK government, accusing it of acting like a ‘fascist regime’ by targeting political rivals, youth activists, and individuals for their social media posts. He alleged that the administration is driven by insecurity and is actively scheduling arrests to suppress dissent.

Stalin also condemned the government’s handling of law and order following the murder of Dhanush, an 18-year-old student in Tiruvottiyur. Stalin alleged the student was killed by a group of approximately 30 people after questioning local drug trafficking. He characterized the administration as incompetent and claimed that social criminals act without fear due to poor governance.

In response to the murder, Tiruvottiyur police have detained 12 juveniles in connection with the incident. While police stated the assault stemmed from a grudge following a trivial altercation and found no immediate evidence of drug consumption among the juveniles, the case has been registered under murder, unlawful assembly, and SC/ST (PoA) Act provisions.
