Udhayanidhi Stalin skips Tamil Nadu Information Commissioner selection meeting
Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin did not attend a selection panel meeting held at the Secretariat to appoint new Information Commissioners. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and attended by Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar.
The panel, tasked with filling vacancies following several retirements, selected one State Chief Information Commissioner and four State Information Commissioners. The names have been forwarded to Governor RV Arlekar for final approval. Once approved, the appointees will be sworn into office.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is a member of the selection panel, communicated his decision to skip the meeting to the State government, though the specific reasons were not made public. This follows a precedent where previous opposition leaders have boycotted similar meetings to protest perceived lack of transparency.
