Udine City Council: Antonio Falcone joins amid budget debates

In Udine, Antonio Falcone has officially joined the City Council, succeeding Pietro Fontanini in the Noi Moderati group. Following his induction, the council observed a minute of silence in memory of Emma Bonino.

The session featured a heated debate regarding a budget variation that allocates an additional 1.2 million euros to the redevelopment of Piazza Venerio. Francesca Laudicina, group leader for the Lega, criticized the decision, arguing that project delays and changes have increased costs by approximately two million euros for citizens. In response, Vice Mayor Alessandro Venanzi defended the maintenance, noting that the existing parking facility is outdated and requires significant upgrades. Work is projected to begin in early 2027.

Additionally, the council discussed the management of cemetery services and legal expenses related to a former local police commander, with opposition members calling for accountability regarding public spending.
