Udine launches training course and certification for dog owners

The Municipality of Udine and the Azienda sanitaria universitaria Friuli centrale (Asufc) have launched a training course for current and prospective dog owners. The program aims to help participants understand canine behavior, recognize animal needs, and build balanced relationships with their pets.

The initiative is supported by the Order of Veterinarians of the Province of Udine and funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The course consists of three days of theoretical lessons and practical demonstrations. Topics include natural animal behaviors, daily management techniques, and the legal rights and responsibilities of owners.

Participants who attend all sessions and pass a final assessment will receive an official certificate, referred to as a ‘patentino’. This certification is intended to promote responsible ownership and prevent aggression incidents to protect public health. The course is free of charge, with 30 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritizing Udine residents.
