Udine murder suspect arrested near Basiliano station
Authorities have arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Mohamed Koufi, in connection with the fatal stabbing of 65-year-old Abdellatif Bensefiyan in Udine, Italy. The suspect was apprehended by Carabinieri near the Basiliano railway station after a period of flight following the attack.
The incident occurred on the evening of September 4 in the Sant'Osvaldo district. Investigators believe Bensefiyan was ambushed while returning home with groceries. The victim was struck with a sharp object and died shortly after being transported to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital. A screwdriver was found at the scene, which the victim reportedly used in an attempt to defend himself.
The motive appears to be linked to a domestic dispute. The suspect was the former partner of the victim's sister, who ended their relationship approximately one month ago. Reports indicate the suspect had previously made death threats against the woman. During the investigation, police recovered a backpack containing knives and a wig, which are being examined for their connection to the crime.
