Udine Mayor Alberto Felice De Toni cleared in corruption probe

A judicial proceeding regarding alleged electoral corruption in Udine has been dismissed. The investigation targeted the Mayor of Udine, Alberto Felice De Toni, opposition councilor Stefano Salmè, and Salmè’s wife, Daniela Perissutti.

The case centered on a suspected illicit agreement where Salmè allegedly instructed his electorate to abstain from voting during a runoff election in exchange for the appointment of Perissutti as vice president of the company Arriva Udine. However, prosecutors found no evidence of an illegal pact, and the judge ruled that no further evidence would change the conclusion to dismiss the charges.
