Udine school transport issues alarm families

Families and students in Udine are raising concerns regarding school transportation following a rescheduling of bus services managed by Arriva Udine. The issue stems from changes to school schedules, where seven out of eleven high schools in the city have adopted a shorter school week, extending daily hours to compensate for Saturday classes.

This shift has caused timing mismatches for several institutions, including Marinelli, Copernico, Malignani, and Marinoni. Students finishing classes at 1:00 PM may face wait times of up to an hour outside their schools, potentially delaying their arrival home by ninety minutes. Some students are considering requesting daily early dismissal permits to catch earlier bus routes.

A meeting between regional authorities, school officials, and Arriva Udine is scheduled for next week to address these critical issues. Luca Gervasutti, regional president of the National Association of Principals, described the situation as a “rodaggio” (testing) phase and noted that potential solutions include adjusting bus schedules or allowing students to leave school slightly earlier to match available transport.
