Udine university third in Censis 2026/27 ranking as Milan schools see mixed results

The Censis institute released its annual ranking for the 2026/27 academic year, assessing Italian universities – both public and private – on criteria such as graduate employability, scholarship availability, internationalisation and the quality of facilities.

The University of Udine secured third place among medium‑size state universities (10‑20,000 students) with an average score of 92.7, confirming a four‑year streak on the podium. In the engineering sector, Politecnico di Milano posted a record 100.8 points, retaining the top national position. Milan‑based institutions showed mixed outcomes: the University of Milano‑Bicocca rose to sixth place overall, while the large state university of Milan dropped to fifth, attributed mainly to challenges with space and infrastructure. Other notable scores included Politecnico di Torino (94.8), Politecnico di Bari (85.7), and private schools such as Bocconi and Cattolica occupying leading spots among non‑state universities.
