Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye praised despite 3-0 loss to Lecce

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye received praise from manager Kosta Runjaic despite his team’s 3-0 defeat against Lecce in Serie A. The loss marks Udinese’s fifth consecutive defeat in the Italian top flight.

Okoye, who had recently faced criticism following an error in a match against Torino, retained his starting position and made several key saves. He denied scoring opportunities for Lecce’s Konan N’Dri and Kaba, and successfully intervened during a one-on-one situation against Geubbels. However, goals from Gaspar, N’Dri, and Jamil Siebert secured the victory for Lecce.

Following the match, Runjaic noted that while the team failed to meet expectations and made numerous mistakes, Okoye provided a strong individual contribution. Runjaic also highlighted the first-half performances of Davis and Alaba.
