UDLAP rector confirms María Fernanda was a former student
Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista, rector of the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP), confirmed that María Fernanda Orozco, a 24-year-old victim of a suspected feminicide, was a former student of the institution. Derbez clarified that both the victim and the alleged perpetrator, Bryan Alejandro N., had not been enrolled at the university for between 12 and 24 months.
The incident occurred in San Andrés Cholula, where the victim was found deceased in her residence. Authorities have already detained the alleged responsible party. The rector expressed support for student protests demanding justice and emphasized that the university maintains robust protocols for the prevention and attention of gender-based violence.
