Udupi Legislator Yashpal Suvarna Directs Officials at Malpe Port for Smooth Fishing Operations
A meeting chaired by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna was held at the Malpe Fishermen's Association hall, bringing together officials from the fisheries department, port authority, coastal police, fire services and leaders of the local fishing community. Suvarna urged all departments to coordinate closely to ensure the ongoing fishing season proceeds without disruption.
Key directives included: clearing construction debris from the main port entrance, expediting the installation of high‑quality CCTV cameras, establishing a dedicated parking area with police staff deployed from 3 a.m., and allowing vehicle traffic through an alternate route. He also asked the fisheries department to fast‑track diesel‑pass book updates to avoid fuel shortages for fishing boats, and to disseminate information about the Prime Minister’s fish‑wealth scheme to eligible fishermen.
The officials were instructed to maintain heightened cleanliness and security at the port and to increase staffing at critical points, ensuring smooth operations for the local fishing industry.
