Ueckermünde considers establishing therapeutic healing forest

The city of Ueckermünde is considering the designation of a therapeutic and healing forest within its municipal forest to expand local health services. The project has already received approval from both the finance and construction committees, with a final decision from city representatives expected in approximately two weeks.

The administration estimates the establishment of the healing forest will cost around 1 million euros, a figure comparable to a similar project in Bad Doberan. The initiative is based on scientific evidence suggesting that nature exposure can have measurable health benefits; data from Techniker-Krankenkasse indicates that even a 15-minute walk in the forest can significantly reduce stress levels, blood pressure, and heart rate.
