UEDAŞ utilizes AI to strengthen energy infrastructure against climate change

UEDAŞ, an electricity distribution company serving over 5 million people in South Marmara, is implementing artificial intelligence-driven analyses to strengthen its energy infrastructure against the effects of climate change.

Rising temperatures and shifting consumption patterns—driven by the increased use of air conditioners, electric vehicles, and heat pumps—are altering energy load profiles. To address this, UEDAŞ uses AI and data analytics to evaluate various climate scenarios and identify transformers at risk of reaching critical load levels. This predictive approach allows the company to plan investments, such as capacity increases and new transformer installations, before demand reaches critical thresholds.

Following improvements to 117 transformers in 2025, the company plans to carry out capacity increases and network improvements on a total of 634 transformers throughout 2026 and 2027.
