UEFA and CONCACAF demand FIFA distribute $2.1 billion in reserves

UEFA and CONCACAF presidents Aleksander Čeferin and Victor Montagliani have formally requested that FIFA redistribute approximately $2.1 billion of its reserves to its 211 member associations. The proposal suggests a minimum payment of $10 million per federation for the 2027–2030 cycle, intended to fund grassroots football and infrastructure development.

This demand follows the collapse of the “FIFA Forward Enterprise” (FFE) project, a private equity proposal that aimed to privatize certain commercial and ticketing rights but faced significant opposition from national federations. The leaders criticized previous attempts to make funding conditional on support for such commercial plans, arguing that member associations should not have to choose between financial support and governance integrity.

Estimates indicate that FIFA is projected to close the 2023–2026 financial cycle with reserves of approximately $6 billion, the largest in the organization's history. In addition to the redistribution request, UEFA and CONCACAF have called for an independent audit of FIFA's finances.
