UEFA and FIFA engage with West African football academies
UEFA is expected to send a mission of experts to Burkina Faso in early 2027 to support the development of national football. Charles Kaboré, the Burkinabè ambassador for sport, announced the upcoming visit following discussions with UEFA Secretary General Theodore Theodoridis. The collaboration aims to strengthen technical capacities, including training for coaches, referees, and video analysts, while creating pathways for young Burkinabè talents to gain experience in European football.
In Senegal, the FIFA delegation visited the Génération Foot Academy in Déni Biram Ndao on October 28. The academy, which is recognized for its role in developing professional players for local and international clubs, hosted the representatives to showcase its training and talent detection programs. The visit highlights the ongoing focus on youth development and the promotion of local talent within the region.
