UEFA backs Nasser Al‑Khelaifi to challenge FIFA president Gianni Infantino

Javier Tebas, president of Spain’s La Liga, told RMC Sport that PSG chief Nasser Al‑Khelaifi would be a poor FIFA president, saying “he does not work within the European football model I aspire to.”

Meanwhile UEFA is actively promoting Al‑Khelaifi as its preferred candidate to replace Gianni Infantino, whose mandate is under pressure after a failed proposal to privatise future World Cup rights. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin is rallying European federations to back the Qatari club owner as the next FIFA leader.
