UEFA demands answers from FIFA over Infantino presidency and Trump ties

UEFA has issued a formal ultimatum to FIFA, demanding detailed written answers to 42 questions regarding the presidency of Gianni Infantino. The governing body of European football has set a deadline of November 2 for FIFA to provide substantive responses and supporting documentation.

The inquiries cover a wide range of controversial issues, including the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan, which proposed selling a 20 per cent stake in World Cup commercial rights to private investors. UEFA is also seeking clarification on Infantino’s potential conflicts of interest and ties to the Trump family, specifically regarding office rentals in Trump Tower and the creation of the FIFA Peace Prize.

Additional questions involve the disciplinary decision to allow American striker Folarin Balogun to play in the World Cup following a red card, and the lack of transparency regarding certain payments and expenses. While Infantino has apologized for mistakes related to the FFE plan, UEFA maintains that these apologies do not address how decisions were made or why the FIFA Council was not properly consulted. The tension comes ahead of the November 18 deadline for FIFA presidential candidate submissions.
