UEFA demands answers from FIFA regarding Trump and World Cup sales
UEFA has issued an eight-page letter to FIFA containing 42 points of inquiry, allegations, and requests for documentation. The letter, which was obtained by the Norwegian news agency NTB, demands responses by November 2, stating that these issues cannot be postponed until the next FIFA Council meeting.
Key areas of investigation include the scrapped plans to sell World Cup shares to private investors through an entity known as Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE). UEFA is questioning FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s role in the FFE proposal and asking if FIFA will accept an independent audit of the process. Additionally, UEFA is seeking clarification on why FIFA has resisted providing documents related to FFE and a lawsuit filed in the United States.
The letter also addresses the ‘Balogun scandal,’ involving claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that he contacted Infantino to influence the suspension of American player Folarin Balogun. UEFA is requesting the full written justification for the decision in that matter. Other points of contention include the 27-minute halftime break during the World Cup final, which was implemented without consulting the International Football Association Board (IFAB).
