UEFA demands FIFA explanations regarding Infantino and Trump
UEFA has issued a formal letter to FIFA demanding answers to 42 specific questions regarding institutional transparency and potential conflicts of interest involving FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The inquiry, reportedly drafted by UEFA Secretary General Theodore Theodoridis, seeks clarification on several controversial matters.
Key issues include the abandoned plans to sell FIFA commercial asset stakes through FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) and allegations regarding Infantino receiving additional income via the US World Cup organizing committee. UEFA also raised concerns regarding the abrupt suspension of a match sanction for US men's national team player Folarin Balogun following a call between Infantino and US President Donald Trump.
UEFA has requested responses by November 2, ahead of the FIFA Council meeting scheduled for December 16. Separately, FIFA noted that The Times issued a retraction regarding previous claims of a second salary for Infantino, admitting that certain reported sums were actually expenses and reimbursements rather than undisclosed remuneration.
